Guiding Paws joined Puppy Raisers of UD for an exposure activity and community outreach activity at Ag Day. The event is hosted by the University of Delaware’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Every year (rain or shine!) we attend this event to expose our dogs to crowds, live music, interesting sights and smells, greenhouses and more in a community fair setting. Though Ag Day often comes with Spring showers, it is vital to have the puppy practice working in these non-ideal conditions.
Our Area Coordinator led our puppies in training circle demonstration for the community to observe. This is a wonderful recruiting opportunity for our clubs, and also an opportunity to answer questions people may have about the puppy raising program. The puppies get practice following commands in the face of many exciting distractions.
Thanks to the University of Delaware and CANR for their continued support and warm welcome for the Seeing Eye Puppy Raisers each year.
