This week a few Guiding Paws members had the privilege of attending a luncheon at The Seeing Eye Campus. The luncheon was a prize for the top calendar contest fundraisers. Featured in the 2026 calendar you will find current and former GP puppies, Clarence and Wolfie as the May photo.
Attendees were treated to sandwiches and a wonderful speech by TSE employee from the Donor and Public Relations Team and graduate, Kyle Street. Kyle spoke on his experience with declining vision, which for him began as a child. He discussed choosing TSE for his guide dogs because of their impeccable reputation and their incredible guide partnership retention rate of 95% after 3 years. He has returned to TSE for his second and third guides. Kyle noted how each of his guide dogs marked and rose to the occasion for each of the life stages he was in at the time. He had PJ for his transition from student to adulthood, Qaden for a robust NYC lifestyle and the birth of his son, and now has Bayley easing him into his new suburban job and commute with TSE and middle parenthood. Kyle was kind enough to offer an extensive Q&A session. People were endeared to learn that Qadan came with a beloved toy from her puppy raiser, PJ has a 3D printed version of himself that roams his former Apple store backroom and that when his guide needs a sick day he sometimes takes the day himself to work from home among many other relatable and witty stories.
It was a beautiful day outside and within the Morristown campus. We encourage all raisers to consider earning their place at the table next year through the 2027 photo contest by submitting a picture and rallying the votes. Please enjoy some pictures that were snapped along the way as it was one of our members’ first ever visit!
